We’re still reeling from last month’s launch of Boody Lounge – our first-ever sustainable downtime wear range. As part of this, we’re profiling everyone from fashion and lifestyle bloggers, ethical minds, makeup artists, models, yogis and eco ambassadors, to find out how they find ways to unwind, what they love about Boody Lounge and their top picks from the capsule collection.
To kick-off, we caught up with Sydney-based lifestyle and fashion blogger, Alex Cuthill. Originally from the Sunshine Coast, Alex runs her inspiring blog and Instagram, perfectly combining her love of fashion and photography.
From travel and beauty to her love for Boody Lounge, read on to discover how this Aussie talent finds her downtime in between her busy life.
We understand you started your blog when you moved to Sydney from the Sunshine Coast in 2012. What was it that inspired you to get into blogging?
I was introduced to the creative world when I moved to Sydney and started studying Interior Design. I wanted more creative outlets and combined photography and fashion. I always had so many ideas I wanted to execute (still do) and it was a great way to put myself out there.
It’s also been amazing to collaborate with like-minded people and amazing brands. I didn’t know how to fully apply my goals and dreams and living in Sydney has helped me to grow and pave the way to where I am now, which I am really fortunate for.
What was it that brought you to Sydney and how does life here compare to living in the Sunshine Coast?
Well, I finished school and was unsure what to do, so I packed myself up and moved to Perth to work in the mines for a year. I actually lived in Sydney for four years when I was little and always knew I wanted to go back and studying Interior Design is what brought me back as I couldn’t study that on the Sunshine Coast at the time.
It’s hard to compare the two places, I love both. The Sunshine Coast is one of those good-for-the-soul, special places, while Sydney gives me the best of both worlds with being so close to the ocean and the city.
Aside from your blog, you obviously curate a gorgeous Instagram feed. Tell us a bit about what we can expect from following you?
I’ve always hoped my page will inspire people and translate positivity – being relatable and sharing what I love and the things I love to do.
My feed is more lifestyle-focused, I love sharing about travel, beauty and fashion. Taking photos and editing is one of my favourite things to do and what I love to share with my audience. I want them to feel like they can come on a virtual journey with me.
Lifestyle and travel are two of the topics you cover across your blog and social media. What makes them your passions?
Travel is a big one as I love sharing experiences and love making recommendations to my audience. I love incorporating the lifestyle element into travel and when I’m not travelling my page is quite beauty/fashion-focused, in a lifestyle way.
We're so excited that you’re part of our Boody Lounge launch! What are your thoughts on the range?
The range is so beautiful, I think I wore it straight away after it was delivered! The material is so soft and feels amazing. I’ve never felt loungewear so soft and so comfortable. The socks feel like absolute heaven on my feet.
What are your favourite pieces from the capsule collection?
The Goodnight Sleep Shorts, Goodnight Sleep Cami and Women’s Chunky Bed Socks are definitely my favourite from the range. They’re also my favourite combination.
Boody Lounge is all about finding your downtime. What are the 3 ways you #FindYourDowntime?
I really take my downtime seriously. Three things I do:
- Head back home to the coast or a staycation
- Go for a drive to a quiet beach with my partner
- Netflix and chill
Why do you think it's important for us to take time out of our busy lives to unwind?
It is all about balance and self-care, taking time for yourself is the ultimate self-care and helps you to reset, focus and re-energise.
How important to you is it to live an eco-friendly life?
I am doing my best to do things daily to be eco-friendly and considerate to the earth. It’s the little things that add up and will make a difference. I am learning more all the time on how to improve this and what additional things I can do to make a difference.
What are your plans for the near future?
Something big and very exciting is on the horizon. It is in the travel space and combines all the things I love to do and it is for YOU. So excited and will be releasing more info in 2020.
