Sustainability is easy to say. Harder to prove. That's why certifications matter to us; they're the difference between a claim and a verified fact. ECOCERT certification is one of the ways we back up what we say about our materials.

What Is ECOCERT?

ECOCERT is one of the world's most trusted independent organic certification bodies. Founded in France in 1991, it verifies that raw materials are grown according to strict organic and environmental standards through independent audits, site inspections and full traceability checks.

In short: it's not a self-assessment. It's an independent organisation that comes in, checks the evidence, and either issues certification or doesn't.

What ECOCERT Means for Boody's Bamboo

The organic bamboo used to create our signature viscose yarn is certified organic by ECOCERT. That means the bamboo itself at the very source of our supply chain has been independently verified as:

  • Grown without harmful pesticides or synthetic chemicals

  • Farmed using practices that protect soil health and surrounding ecosystems

  • Fully traceable from cultivation through to fibre production

  • Verified through independent audits and on-site inspections

Every step of the bamboo journey, from the ground it grows into the fibre it becomes, meets globally recognised organic standards. That's the starting point for everything we make.

Why Organic Cultivation Matters

Growing bamboo organically isn't just a nice idea. It has real consequences for the people and ecosystems involved. Organic farming practices:

  • Protect surrounding waterways and ecosystems from chemical runoff

  • Maintain healthier soil for long-term, sustainable cultivation

  • Reduce exposure to harmful chemicals for farmers and local communities

  • Support more transparent, accountable supply chains

Bamboo is already a remarkable raw material. It's fast-growing, requires no artificial irrigation, and regenerates naturally. Growing it organically means we're building on those natural advantages rather than undermining them with chemical inputs.

What ECOCERT Certification Doesn't Mean

We want to be straightforward about what this certification covers. ECOCERT certifies the bamboo used to create our signature viscose yarn, not the finished garments themselves. Viscose is a processed fibre, and the certification applies at the raw material stage.

That's why we layer multiple certifications across our supply chain. ECOCERT covers the bamboo source. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 covers the finished fabrics. Together, they give a more complete picture of what goes into what you're wearing.

The Bigger Picture

We're not interested in sustainability as a marketing position. We're interested in it as a genuine operating principle. ECOCERT certification is one part of how we hold ourselves accountable to that, starting at the very beginning of our supply chain, where the material itself is grown.

Because the best place to make something better is always at the source.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is ECOCERT certification?

ECOCERT is a globally recognised independent certification body that verifies raw materials are grown according to strict organic and environmental standards. It provides assurance through independent audits and site inspections that materials are responsibly sourced and traceable.

Does ECOCERT certification cover Boody's finished products?

The ECOCERT certification applies to the organic bamboo used to create our signature viscose yarn, not the finished garments. Our finished fabrics are covered by separate certifications including OEKO-TEX Standard 100.

Why does Boody use ECOCERT certified bamboo?

Because sustainability needs to start at the source. ECOCERT certification gives us confidence that the bamboo we use is grown responsibly, without harmful chemicals, and with genuine traceability through the supply chain.

Is ECOCERT the same as organic certified?

ECOCERT is one of several internationally recognised organic certification bodies. It verifies compliance with organic growing standards through independent auditing. It is not government-issued organic certification, but it is widely recognised as one of the most rigorous and trusted in the industry.
